Etruscan Honeysuckle Lonicera etruscaNative to the Mediterranean Region. A more or less evergreen climber with the uppermost two or three pairs of leaves fulling encircling the stem. Flowers emerging immediately above the uppermost leaves.

Mediterranean Honeysuckle Lonicera implexa
Native to the Mediterranean Region eastwards to the Caucasus. A deciduous climber with only the uppermost pair of leaves (immediately below the flowers) fully encircling the stem. Flowers on a 2-4cm long stem above the uppermost leaves.

Japanese Honeysuckle Lonicera japonica
Introduced from eastern Asia as a garden ornamental and occasionally seen in hotel gardens. Flowers typically honey-yellow to cream, without pink tones. Semi-evergreen, the leaves dropping in cold winters. Stems downy. Ripe berries black. Note that, in common with many shrubby members of the family, leaves on more vigorous growths can have lobed margins.
